PRP has become a highly sought-after non-surgical procedure for facial and skin rejuvenation. PRP therapy is a treatment which uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture and to restore lost facial volume. Your blood is essentially made up of four components; red blood cells, white blood cells, the plasma and the platelets. We take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of the blood cells from your plasma and platelets. This is then re-injected into the skin to stimulate collagen and new skin cells. PRP harnesses the beneficial functions of the patients own platelets and therefore there is no risk of allergy or rejection of the treatment. Essentially it allows the body to heal faster and more efficiently. It stimulates DNA repair, heals scars and makes dry lacklustre skin look and feel younger. What areas can be treated? It works especially well on the forehead, cheeks, neck, décolletage and hands. It is amazing at skin revitalization, tackling scars (including acne scars) and stretch marks. It can be mixed with dermal fillers to treat lines and administered during the same appointment as botulinum toxin. How many sessions will I need and how far apart should I have them? Results are noticeable within 3-4 weeks and often only one treatment is required for facial rejuvenation with the effect lasting for 6-8 months. For acne scaring and scar treatment one treatment is needed every 4 weeks with 3-4 sessions in total. Am I a suitable candidate / what are the Contra-indications? He immediately put me at ease as he told me what I needed to hear and not what I wanted to hear. He said my skin was good but could be made better as I had some grooves on the sides of my mouth, a few sun spots, and stubborn acne marks. The vampire facial could correct all that as it's a minimally invasive process that helps to improve the skin's texture and reduce pore size. The one-hour session involved drawing blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to separate out the platelets and re- injecting it, finishing with some micro needling. I have to say my skin has never felt this good and I will 100% be coming back for more!"
