This action triggers a healing process, similar to fractional laser procedures, which stimulates your own cells to increase the production of collagen and elastin. Dermapen Skin Therapy rejuvenates the skin leaving it firmer, smoother and looking younger. What areas can be treated? It is typically used to treat the following conditions:Aged Sagging SkinFine Lines and WrinklesSmoker lines around lipsSkin Tightening and RejuvenationReduction of Scars and Acne ScarringRejuvenationLarge PoresStretch MarksHow many sessions will I need and how far apart should I have them? For most conditions, two or three treatments are usually required but for any scarring or skin tightening, three or five treatments are required with an interval of six weeks between treatments.Am I a suitable candidate / what are the Contra-indications?A patient with aging skin is a great candidate for The Dermapen. Aged skin is thin, lined, and wrinkled. The pigmentation is often uneven. The main Contra-indication of this treatment is pregnancy however you may also be an unsuitable candidate due to active acne in the area, cold sores, keloid scaring and various blood disorders. If you are using harsh products such as Tretinoin or Retin A, usage must be discontinued 5 days prior to treatment. If you are not sure if you are a suitable candidate please contacts the clinic for further advice. What results can I expect? The treatment results in the formation of collagen and elastin with improved blood circulation to the skin as well. Following the treatment the skin looks red similar to sunburn. In general, microdermabrasion results in thicker, healthier, more youthful looking skin. Over the course of a full set of treatments, the body will produce new layers of skin containing higher levels of elastin and collagen. This, in turn, improves the complexion and gives the skin a more radiant, vibrant glow. Are there any side effects?Side effects experienced with Dermapen will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching and tightness of the skin.Downtime and Aftercare / post treatment advice?Generally there is no downtime, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. My acne scarring was very deep and pitted prior to the treatment and over the course of the treatments it has become so smooth and less visible. I have tried a few different lasers including Fractional and derma roller but nothing has compared to the results I get in a single treatment of the Dermapen. The Dermapen has given me plumper, smooth skin and even removed fine lines I used to have on my forehead. I love the Dermapen!"
