Skin Tags, Moles & Warts
Skin tags and moles can be simply
removed with electrosurgery. This is a process where
a minute current is passed onto the skin after the skin
tag or lesion has been removed with a straight or curved
scalpel. This instantly stops the bleeding by coagulating
the blood and sealing the tissue, protecting it from
infection. The resulting scab falls off in approximately
5 - 7 days leaving a slightly pink area that gradually
reverts to a light skin colour, becoming hardly visible.
This process does away with the need
for suturing. Warts can be removed by a similar procedure
or by cryocautery. The latter is a process whereby a
very cold spray is applied to the skin lesion. This
causes localised frostbite and a blister forms. When
this heals up the skin lesion being treated disappears.
Sometimes warts may require a further application. Diathermy
can also be used to treat the skin lesions a very hot
tip is used to cut the skin lesion and stop the bleeding
at the same time. The healing phase is the same as electro
surgery.
